ABOUT

Tarik Berber was born in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 1980. He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence under Prof. Adriano Bimbi. After spending a couple of years in Berlin and seven years in London, he moved to Milan, where he currently lives and works.

As a child, due to the Yugoslav War, he left his home country and settled with his family in Bolzano, Italy. Even before moving to Florence to continue his academic studies, while still very young, he had already received recognition and critical acclaim.

Before the age of twenty-one, he came into contact with the prestigious Poggiali & Forconi Gallery in Florence. At the inauguration of the new Museo di Arte Contemporanea di Isernia, MACI, in the spring of 2004, Berber was the youngest artist invited to exhibit. He presented an Expressionist painting depicting, in close-up, a figure permeated by a sacred aura, which attracted the attention of both critics and the public. His participation in major art fairs further consolidated the growing interest in his work.

He was invited to exhibit at the Museo della Civiltà Romana in Rome, at the Second Biennial InTranSito, and at the 2nd Rassegna Internazionale d’Arte Città di Bozzolo Don Primo Mazzolari, where he was awarded the First Acquisition Prize. In May 2006, he held a solo exhibition at the eighteenth-century Villa Pisani, the Museo Nazionale di Strà, in the Province of Venice.

Berber has also created four hand-drawn animations, which attracted the attention of the BBC, InsideArt and Vimeo Staff Picks, among others. His third animation, “Dubbi”, was created in Italy for the Italian rapper Marracash. The video has received more than two million views and was shortlisted for the MTV Award for Best Italian Music Video.

His most recent animation, “Lint”, was created for Aleksandar Hemon, Professor of Creative Writing at Princeton University, and was presented in Sarajevo in 2025 at Manifesto Gallery.

Berber also created an etching book with a text by Italian philosopher Matteo Nucci for the 60th anniversary of Lamborghini. The project was presented at the Italian Embassy in Vienna and the book is now part of the Lamborghini Museum collection in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy.

At the end of 2015, he began working with the prestigious Albemarle Gallery, which organised a solo exhibition at Moor House, designed by architect Lord Norman Foster, in the City of London.

In 2016, Berber was a shortlisted finalist for the Ibero-American Art Award Exhibition at the Embassy of Brazil in London.

In 2017, he was represented by Aria Art Gallery at “CI” Contemporary Istanbul Art Fair.
